Rigorous Touring Schedules Are Hurting Artists

In light of recent events including SZA who says her voice is permanently damaged due to rigorous touring and taking steroids to overcome stress and power through. It’s time to question how much touring should an artist do?

Nowadays the music industry has had a major change from album purchases to streaming. Making money just from music isn’t enough, the money is in touring, promoting the album non stop and these artist rarely get a break.

Another example is rising pop star Camila Cabello who was recently hospitalised for dehydration. If you look at Camila’s history this isn’t the first time this has happened and doesn’t seem to be the last. Since dropping her number 1 Album in January 2018 it’s been non stop for her from headlining her own tour to opening up for Taylor Swift and not to mention all of her music award and TV performances.

These artists just don’t stop and can’t because we live in such a fast pace world that without constant work, music and videos us as fans begin to lose interest.

It has become more and more apparent that artists are being pushed passed there limit and it’s slowly killing them. SZA is only 27 years old and she may have just lost her career when it’s only really just started.

We have to remember that these artists are human as well. I work a 9-5 job and I cannot wait to get to the weekend to relax. So I can’t imagine what some of these artists go through , waking up at crazy hours, travelling the world and still expect to be healthy and fit. It doesn’t work that way and we need to be more compassionate.

Maybe it’s time to stop these crazy 12 month world tours and get back to basics.
