You may call G Eazy an 'overnight' success but he's been working his ass off for many years and he's finally being recognised for his raw talent, insane lyricism and cool beats.
The first time I heard G Eazy was on his previous album These Things Happen (I came across him on Spotify) which then caused me to listen to his album all summer long. One of my favourite tracks on that album is 'Tumblr Girls' this is because it's a song that I can relate to in a "fantasy" level. It's not something that I personally can relate to but I wish I could. One particular lyric in the song that I love is "You and I were made of glass / We'd never last" it's one sentence that I believe a lot of people understand because in my generation relationships aren't as meaningful as they once were. They're fragile.
So Young Gerald has just dropped his brand new album 'When it's dark out' and it's one of those albums where you don't skip a track because every song is a banger. One of my favourite parts about this album is that it's like listening to a story every track links with the next. There's no random tracks.
It an emotional ride listening to this album, which I feel that more rappers should be like.
In this album he has features from Big Sean, Kehlani, Chris Brown and a couple more credited artists. I feel like this album could be the album that catapults Gerald into worldwide stardom. He's already toured USA and Europe both largely successful and it can only go up from here.
stream his album on Spotify or buy it on iTunes
