Last night it must've been around 1am (UK time) when I noticed Kehlani was trending on twitter. So I decided to take a peek. I was appalled at how people these days were so quick to judge and jump on the band wagon to not only disrespect Kehlani but also take the piss out of Kyrie Irving.
I myself am a 20 year old woman who's made some mistakes but thats all part of learning and becoming who you are. Luckily for me I am not a R&B superstar so I never got the consequences of people that I don't even know or know me trying to judge me for my mistakes. But Kehlani has to endure the bullying and judgement from people that don't even know her all for retweet and likes.
My generation has become so obsessed with being liked online that they'll do anything to get there and forget that the people they're attacking are real human beings.
I am so fed up of living in a world where mental health is funny just for a fucking meme. i hate that this generation live off getting liked and followed and retweeted instead of making real connections with real people in there real world. All of this Twitter bullshit led Kehlani to take her life away. Thankfully she didn't succeed and is still with us. That girl is a 20 year old Grammy nominated artist! Her career has only just begun and to think that "You Should Be Here" would be the last thing she ever did makes me want to cry because she has so much more to offer.
I don't know her personally (I wish I did) but her music has helped me like its helped a lot of people. One of my favourite songs is Bright where she sings "can't nobody love somebody that do not love themselves / you are what you choose to be / it's not up to no one else / so be great, be kind / don't let them dim your light" so as a fan and someone who spends days watching your music videos and wanting to be at your shows please don't let these bullies dim your light , you are stronger than you believe and I am sending all the positivity your way. You deserve the world, you're talented, beautiful and nothing will ever change that.
