I read this article on Highsnobiety about why do women’s
trainers suck? And once I started reading it I began to understand that
although people like to think that women have more choice when it comes to
clothing; trainers on the other hand we don’t. It sucks because I love
trainers, I’m a huge sneakerhead but going into the womens section at any
trainer store just makes me feel sad because our colourways are so boring,
mostly made out of white’s, black’s, pink’s and sometimes blue’s.
Living in a place like Jersey (Channel Islands) you don’t
get the shoe game that you want because here we’re stuck with JD Sports, Schuh
and Sports Direct. That’s only 3 trainer stores! How can anyone have a cool
shoe game with 3 trainer stores that actually suck too. I mean Sports Direct
have old trainers for low prices, JD Sports only sells Nike or Adidas and Schuh
just sells the WORST collection.
If I want some cool trainers I have to look online but
most of the time they don’t ship to Jersey! This means I have to take the
weekend off, get on a plane and fly to London to find some cool shit. But I am
still stuck with the same problem; women’s trainers just aren’t that great.
Also the section of the Women’s compared to the Men’s is
like a pet’s cage in a large living room; it’s tiny.
So here’s my suggestion to the creators of trainers start
making trainers that are sizes 4 – 13 (UK) and don’t divide them into Women’s
and Men’s and just call them trainers!
Why do we need to genderize everything?
