The debut album for MC Grime artist Stormzy has finally arrived. I may be a bit late on writing up a piece but it really took me some time to take the whole concept of the album in.
This album would be like if Kanye West and Chance the Rapper had a baby and created this masterpiece. The beginning of Stormzy's journey he's talking about being the greatest MC and really going on hard with his rhymes and beats but then the mood completely changes when the track 'cigarettes and cush' ft Kehlani and Lily Allen starts playing. The song is about breaking up with someone that he loved deeply and about someone who had been there for him in his hard times. Adding Kehlani and Lily Allen's vocals to the mix, gives a more beautiful sound that contrasts with Stormzy's harsh vocals.
'Blinded by your grace pt.2 (ft MNEK)' is by far one of the best tracks on this album. It mixes his religious side and his grime artist side perfectly well. Using MNEK and a choir to make the song even more powerful. It's truly a vibe.
