I've been listening to Olivia O'Brien for a long time now. She gained some attraction back in 2016 when she collaborate with Gnash on 'I hate u, I love u'.
FUN FACT: i hate u, i love u, was written by Olivia and the original is 100 times better.
Listen:
The 17 year old singer-songwriter is a breathe of fresh air in a world where pop music sounds the same. Olivia O'Brien unleashes all her emotions through her lyrically-driven music, often directed at boys who messed her around; which I'm sure most of us can relate.
Her music invigorates stories whether it's saying goodbye to a toxic friendship with 'RIP' or feeling an emptiness that is hard to cope with 'Empty'. Olivia's music speaks to and for many, her newest single 'No Love' speaks about how hard it is to find real people that aren't stuck in an Instagram world and aren't just here for the good times but also the bad times.
Listen:
She's currently working on her debut EP 'It's not that deep', which is expected to be out 17 November 2017. She's released two singles 'RIP' and 'No Love', which seems to be going in the direction of a story-telling journey. Both tracks have similar connotations and seem to intertwine. I'm excited to see what this young artist has up her sleeve, she's talented vocally and lyrically.
Don't sleep on her!
